Greetings from Mackenzie, B.C.

Dir(s): Andrew McIntosh

Program: Canadian Spectrum

Run Time: 5 | Canada  | Language: English

In early 2008, the small forestry town of Mackenzie, British Columbia buckled under the weight of the looming recession when every mill closed, leaving the single-industry community decimated by a 90% unemployment rate. A heartfelt eulogy to the filmmaker's beloved hometown, this starkly reflective film charts Mackenzie's mercurial rise and fall from boomtown to ghost town, and raises questions about the sustainability of an economy reliant upon resource consumption. Michelle Latimer.
